Didgeridoo - inspired from traditional Yidaki

Not many people differentiate. But when you’re part of culture, it’s important. I love sharing hybrid and Yidaki inspired telescopic pipes to recreate traditional sounds in various musical contexts. I do not play Yidaki for ceremony, as it’s not my place. I am always grateful to my family Dawu & Bobby up in Raminginning. Stop by and say ‘hi’ to them if you’re out that way!

Bull Horn

A gift from my neighbour. Both the Bull and the older Italian gentleman who kept the old bull were my neighbours for many years. When time played it’s final hand for the Bull, the old man gifted me our friends magnificent horn to fashion & play. Thanks Lorenzo R.I.P

Didge

Not many people differentiate but Didge is not Yidaki and visa versa, in my view. One is traditional, used in ceremony by the custodians of a place we call Australia. Yidaki is Ylongu gathered, termite bored, hard tree timber fashioned into instrumets used to tell stories and share culture as well as dance and healing. Everything else is inspired by that, with funny names like digderidoo-or-don’t!

But when you’ve seen and been part of culture, it’s important.

I love sharing hybrid and Yidaki inspired telescopic pipes to recreate traditional sounds in various musical contexts. I do not play Yidaki for ceremony, as it dose not feel like my place. I am always grateful to my Ylongu family. Dawu, Bobby, Aunty Liz and all the mob up in Raminginning. Stop by and say ‘hi’ to them if you’re out that way!

My First Love

Strange but true. My fathers brass bugal found its way into my face one day as a four year old, and the rest is history…

Haitch also runs circularbreath.com sharing his passion for this ancient breath technique, used for music and medically diagnosed sleep and breathing disorders.

Inspired by the traditional Aboriginal Yidaki: Ancient wisdom meets modern medicine.
